YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma amateur boxer Daniel Chavez Jr. is set to compete at the US Boxing 2025 International Championship in Pueblo, Colo.
Chavez Jr. has made waves through the amateur rankings in Arizona, winning multiple Golden Gloves tournaments.
Now, he'll get a chance to compete against some of the country's top young fighters.
"I want to come in first place, of course, I'm only going to go as far as God takes me," Chavez Jr. said.
Chavez Jr., along with fellow Yuma amateur Skyler Bialecki, is looking for financial help to get to the tournament.
After Bialecki's mom set up a GoFundMe, the duo has raised over $1,270 dollars, with a goal of getting $2,600.
"It means a lot to know there is people out there that do really care," Chavez Jr. said.
