Tiger Woods expected to miss Master due to medical issue

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Tiger Woods is expected to the Masters after undergoing a minor surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon Tuesday.

Woods announced the news on his social media platforms, but did not say how long he expected to be out.

He said he felt "a sharp pain in my left achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured."

The minimally invasive procedure went smoothly, according to his doctor. However, it could take a month before he can even put weight on his foot.

The Masters begins at Augusta National on April 10.

Woods has won the green jacket five times in his career, his last victory coming in 2019.
