Pickleball craze hits Fenway Park, will host weekend tournament

BOSTON, Mass. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The pickleball craze is hitting the big leagues. On Tuesday, courts for the tennis/badminton/ping pong hybrid were laid out at Fenway Park in Boston.

This weekend, fans of the sport can watch the pros play and even give it a try themselves in the outfield of the Red Sox's historic home.

The Pickle-4-Ballpark series runs from Wednesday to Sunday and includes an exhibition with top-ranked players from the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour.

Amateurs can also reserve time on one of a dozen courts for $200 per person. The price includes a racket!

Pre-registration for the spots sold out quickly so a fifth day was added. That sold out, too.

When they're done in boston, they'll do the same thing at the San Francisco Giant's Oracle Park.
