Pablo Cota confirmed as new head coach for Kofa High football
The former King football player was confirmed on Wednesday night at the YUHSD board meeting after being recommended by Kofa High - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As the Kofa Kings football program welcomes their new coach under unusual circumstances, Pablo Cota is ready to take over.
Cota has been a coach with in the Kofa program since may.
He was previously set to be the head coach of the freshman squad.
But, following the departure of varsity head coach Alfonzo Brown due to personnel reasons.
Now, Cota is the man in charge after his recommendation from Kofa High was approved by the governing board Wednesday night.
Cota played four years for the Kings, graduating back in 2014.
So far, the kings are off to an 0-2 start.
Cota, acknowledging the turnover has been a challenge.
“Having that initial head coach come out right before our season started but it was structured properly where we use our position coaches perfectly where we didn’t skip a beat during practice and we were able to kick off the season the right way this year, and we had all the kids out there,” Cota said.
Kofa is on a bye this week.
Cota will get his first game as head coach when the Kings take on the Cibola Raiders at home on Sept 23.
