“Field of Dreams” game returns to Iowa on Thursday for second year
(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - It's that time again for lovers of the nation's pastime on the baseball diamond with the second-ever Major League Baseball game coming to Iowa.
The "Field of Dreams" game is scheduled for Thursday in Dyersville, Iowa, at the site where the legendary 1989 sports movie was filmed.
MLB built an 8,000 seat ballpark for these games that are planned to run annually each summer.
On Thursday, the Chicago Cubs will play the Cincinnati Reds and it's expected to draw another large crowd.
""For me, it's a very personal thing," said local fan Karri Parrott. "I mean, it's, you know, it's more than just about baseball. It's about families. And it just is a common thing that brings everyone together. "
It's going to be tough to top last year's inaugural Field of Dreams game though.
Last summer the Chicago White Sox came back in the late innings and walked it off in thrilling fashion on a Tim Anderson home run to beat the New York Yankees in extra innings.
