Doman overcomes the odds
GR lineman signs his LOI a year after tragedy strikes
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - One prep student athlete is defying the odds, all the way to his signing day.
Gila Ridge offensive line standout Michael Doman has been on a long road since surviving the same car accident that took the life of Chris Pelfrey more than a year ago.
On Tuesday, that path has taken him to the next level.
Doman has offiically signed his letter of intent to continue his football career with Coe College out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Hawks Senior is now fully recovered from the multiple broken bones he suffered from that accident, making his return to the gridiron on October 1st.
For his amazing comeback, he's become a role model within the Hawks program and the local community.

"That's a huge motivation, a huge influence to look too for our younger guys to see, you know, life might throw you some terrible cards and might pull some punches, but you can't just quit. You got to keep going. And I think he's the best example of that."

From an athletics standpoint, Doman hopes to contribute right away as a role player.
Although he's willing to help the Kohawks in any position, he hopes for an opportunity to play offensive tackle.
Academically, Doman plans on majoring in Business Administration.
