Season finale payback
Central avenges home loss, defeats Holtville in season finale
HOLTVILLE, Calif., (KYMA, KECY) - When the Holtville Vikings baseball team cemented it's 4th place finish in the Imperial Valley League by defeating the Central Spartans in El Centro, the Spartans didn't take that defeat lightly.
After postponing the season finale game at Holtville until Tuesday night, Central made sure the outcome would change this time around.
Behind the arm of team captain and starting pitcher Andres Quiroz, the Spartans successfully kept the Vikes off the board for the 1st 3 innings of the contest.
Meanwhile, Central's offense would find some life in the top half of the 4th, as Skylar Cook delivered 2 RBI's off a 2 out double, off of Holtville starting pitcher Norbert Irungaray.
This inning would set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Spartans got the 6-3 win to even the season series with the Vikings at a game apiece.
The CIF-San Diego Section playoff fates for both programs have yet to be determined.
