Central softball tops Calexico

Lady Spartans win in low scoring battle

EL CENTRO, Calif., (KYMA, KECY) - 2 evenly matched Imperial Valley League softball programs put on a great defensive performance on Tuesday night.

Between the Calexico Bulldogs and the Central Lady Spartans, only 3 runs were put on the board in the entire contest that was held together by stellar defensive play.

After the 1st 3 innings, the Lady Spartans held a 2-1 lead that would not change for the remainder of the contest.

The few chances the Bulldogs had to tie the game would fizzle out, culminated by a 6th inning diving grab by Central pitcher Ariana Sanchez that would turn into a quick double play.

Both team will have their rematch Friday night in Calexico with the opening pitch at 6 pm.
