Eligible for pay?

NCAA a step closer to paying student athletes

Courtesy: NCAA

Earlier this week, the NCAA board of governors approved a rule change that would allow collegiate student athletes to get paid.

This would allow them to make money from 3rd party sources that could come in the form of product endorsements, public appearances and social media content; as long as it doesn't interfere with the NCAA.

Student athletes would be able to identify with the university that they are attending and playing for, but they would be prohibited from using the school and conference logos, as well as trademarks.

3 Divisions within the NCAA are expected to take on this new rule.

If the rule change is accepted, it would go in effect starting the Fall of 2021.
