Casey Kline weathering through
Former Brawley Wildcat football star speaks on how the Coronavirus is effecting his collegiate career.
When Casey Kline led the Brawley Wildcats football team on both defense and offense his junior and senior seasons; he would most often beat the opponents lined up against him.
Now, like every other athlete on planet earth, he's guarding against a potential opponent he cannot see; the Coronavirus.
A year and 3 months after joining the Boise State Broncos football program, Kline's dream of playing in Division 1 college football is put on hold.
Coming off being redshirted his Freshman year, after having 3 strong Spring practices, the Broncos coaching staff informed Kline and the rest of his teammates that all team activities would be shut down to at least the end of April.
Since that time, Kline has returned home to the Imperial Valley to face the reality of what the pandemic has brought to the world; social distancing.
Kline continues to train individually and further study the Broncos playbook, but his concerns about the prolonging pandemic making the game he loves to play become even more difficult to prepare for.
"I think if you do it right, you can be as prepared as you can be in this situation. But, at the end of the day, you know our strength coaches aren't in my face everyday like pushing me to do that extra rep. And our position coaches aren't in my ear everyday telling me to get in the playbook. Like you know, face to face is a whole different thing. So, you can do, you can get as much done in the circumstances. But overall, obviously we are not going to be as well off as we would be if we were up there as a team right now."
Kline hopes to rejoin the Broncos sometime over the Summer months.
