Honoring our Seniors: San Luis Baseball’s Gabriel Valenzuela

13 On Your Side Sports: WNBA Draft goes virtual, honors those lives lost in Kobe Helicopter crash

YUMA, Ariz.(KYMA, KECY TV) - With the COVID-19 pandemic putting a halt to spring sports, we at CBS 13 want to honor and celebrate our seniors who could not have one final season.

Today we are honoring San Luis high school senior Gabriel Valenzuela.

He was excited to play his final baseball season but then was stripped away from the opportunity. He holds the Defensive player of the year accolade.

Head coach of the Sidewinders baseball team, Cesar Castillo shared with 13 sports an insight on Valenzuela:

“He has contributed to a number of positions over the years, showing his unselfishness and willingness to do anything to help the team be successful. "

He also expressed, Valenzuela is a product of hard work, making himself a reliable shortstop, steady hitter and staying consistent at the top of the lineup.
Congrats Gabriel Valenzuela on being a star-student athlete and we wish you nothing but the best.
