KSWT Sports: Defense all the way
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)-Yuma Catholic is currently 3-2 after Thursday night's win against Parker at home. Coming off a win against Antelope and Lake Havasu, the Shamrocks were hungry for another taste of victory, and they got it. The rocks played a competitive match-up against Parker and their efforts would prove to pay off as they got the 67-53 win. They next face American Leadership Academy on Saturday.
The Cibola girls' basketball team is on a roll. Under head coach Anthony Gerg, the girls are currently 8-1 after Thursday night's contest against their arch-rivals, the Gila Ridge Hawks.
The girls would prove to play a very low scoring game against the Hawks, putting them on edge in a defensive battle; but Ridge would put up a fight.
In the first half, only 23 points were scored combined. That means the Gila Ridge Hawks only produced six points in two periods, while the Raiders only produced 17. Cibola would prove to win the battle by a score of 30-15.
The Raiders are on the road next to face Westview on Friday, while the Hawks travel to Buckeye to face Youngker also on Friday.
