Macklemore dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour after making ‘Free Palestine’ speech

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBS, KYMA) - Macklemore has been dropped from the remainder of Ed Sheeran's Loop tour after calling for a "free Palestine" during his concert opener at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey earlier this month.

Video captured by Instagram user @savannahsommer shows the American rapper giving the speech onstage.

"I say free Palestine," he is heard saying. "I say free Lebanon, free Cuba to the Congo to Sudan to Iran and all the people living in America that have to live in fear because of this terrorist organization ICE."

Macklemore posted to Instagram, saying he hoped "this isn't the end of my relationship with Ed."

In response to Macklemore being dropped from his tour, Sheeran posted to Instagram, saying in part, "Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter's decision, it was not mine. Macklemore's contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me."
