Disney agrees to $50 million settlement in class action lawsuit

(NBC, KYMA) - Some streaming TV customers could soon be eligible for a cash payment under a newly proposed legal settlement.

Disney has agreed to a $50 million settlement in a class action lawsuit involving its distribution agreements with streaming television providers.

The lawsuit claimed the company's requirement that competitors carry ESPN in their basic channel packages led to higher prices for consumers.

People who subscribed to YouTube TV or DirecTV during the eligible period, from April 2019 through March 2026, may qualify to file a claim for part of the settlement.

Individual payments will depend on how long customers subscribed and the total number of approved claims.
