Brandy, singer and actress, honored with star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - Singer and actress Brandy was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday.

With a career spanning three decades, Brandy is one of the best-selling female singers of all time, having earned one Grammy and over a dozen nominations, as well as selling multi-platinum records.

Brandy also created a defining presence on television, starring in the sitcom "Moesha" as well as appearing in several films, including "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer."

Monday's star-studded ceremony comes one day before the release of her memoir "Phases."

Brandy's star, in the Recording category, is the 2,839th one to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"Seeing the stars on the Walk of Fame lit something in me. It made me believe, it made me affirm over my own life: I'm going to sing my way onto one of these stars. And I did. That is what makes this moment so profound for me, so full circle, so sacred," Brandy expressed.

Sibley Soles served as the event's emcee while Issa Rae and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds served as guest speakers.
