YouTube ad revenue exceeds four Hollywood studios combined

(CNN, KYMA) - Silicon Valley has overtaken Hollywood in one key metric: Video ad revenue.

Last year, YouTube earned more money from advertisements than Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, and NBCUniversal combined, according to media research firm Moffett Nathanson.

There are really two stories happening here. First, YouTube grew its ad revenue by more than $4 billion from 2024.

At the same time, the legacy players saw their commercial sales decline by about the same amount.

These metrics do not include subscription revenue.
