Willie Colón, American salsa legend, dies at 75
(NBC, KYMA) - American salsa legend Willie Colón has died at the age of 75.
His family confirmed his death Saturday on social media, saying while they grieve his absence, they rejoice in the timeless gift of his music.
Colón was a trombonist, a singer and composer.
He was born in the Bronx and went on to produce more than 40 albums.
He was nominated for 10 Grammy Awards, and in 2004 the Latin Recording Academy awarded Colón a lifetime achievement award.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
