‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ remains no. 1 at the box office for fifth weekend in a row
(CNN, KYMA) - Two very different franchises went head-to-head at the box office this past weekend, but only one of them came out on top.
A24's "Marty Supreme" starring Golden Globe winner Timothee Chalamet ping-ponged back into the top five, earning $5.5 million
Lionsgate's "The Housemaid" starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried fell to fourth place, dusting off $8.5 million.
Disney's "Zootopia 2" made $8.8 million for third place and a domestic total of $393 million.
Despite great reviews, Sony's "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" opened in second place with $13 million, well below expectations.
"Avatar: Fire and Ash" held on for a fifth straight weekend title, grossing $13.3 million for a domestic total of $367 million.
