Original version of Betty Boop enters public domain
(CNN, KYMA) - The original version of Betty Boop has entered the public domain.
The cartoon character appeared in her original iteration in the 1930 six-minute short, "Dizzy Dishes."
You may notice Betty Boop looks a little different in the short. That's because she was originally drawn as a human-like dog.
The copyright on thousands of creations from 1930 expired on January 1, meaning people can now use them for free, and adapt them if they want to.
Other pieces made public as of Thursday include the songs "Georgia On My Mind" and "I Got Rhythm."
