Disney invests $1 billion with OpenAI to use its characters on Sora

(CNN, KYMA) - Disney is investing a billion dollars in OpenAI and licensing its characters for Sora, the AI company's video-generation platform.

Disney's equity stake in OpenAI is the first major licensing agreement for Sora.

Users of the short-form video-generating social media network will be able to make videos using more than 200 Disney animated characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Cinderella.

Animated characters from Marvel and Lucasfilm, like Yoda, are also included. However, the agreement does not include any talent likenesses or voices.
