Netflix reassures customers after Warner Bros. deal
(CNN, KYMA) - In the wake of its announcement that it is buying Warner Bros. and HBO Max, Netflix is reassuring subscribers that nothing is changing, at least for now.
Netflix sent an email to its subscribers Friday titled "Welcoming Warner Bros. to Netflix." In it, they say, "Nothing is changing today" and Netflix and Warner Bros. will continue operate separately until the deal closes.
This was reiterated in a frequently asked questions section where Netflix said nothing is changing with a subscribers current plan.
Both companies have said they expect the deal to close later next year if it passes regulatory approval.
Warner Bros. will still move forward with plans to split into publicly traded companies next year. Netflix will take over the streaming and studio side while the other half will be renamed Discovery Global and will house CNN and other cable channels, like TBS and TNT.
