‘Zootopia 2’ beats ‘Wicked: For Good’ at weekend box office
(CNN, KYMA) - The first animated kid-friendly film to hit theaters in months couldn't have arrived at a better time as families headed out to the movies over Thanksgiving weekend.
Paramount's "The Running Man," based off the Stephen King book and the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, made $5.5 million from Wednesday through Sunday, landing in fifth place.
20th Century Studios' "Predator: Badlands," the seventh film in the "Predator" franchise, survived in fourth place with $6.6 million.
Lionsgate's "Now You See Me: Now You Don't," the third film in the "Now You See Me" franchise, conjured up $10 million for third place.
Audiences still can't resist Universal's "Wicked: For Good." While the Broadway adaptation lost the top spot, the film earned $93 million dollars for a domestic total of $270 million.
Taking the top spot is Disney's "Zootopia 2" as the animated sequel debuted with $156 million over the five-day holiday weekend.
