Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in talks to return to ‘Mummy’ franchise

(CNN, KYMA) - Oscar winners Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz may soon reunite on the big screen.

The two stars are reportedly in discussions with movie executives to appear together in another installment of "The Mummy" franchise, according to the Deadline, citing "multiple sources."

David Coggeshall has since confirmed on social media that he will write the film. In addition, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for directing films such as "Ready or Not," 2022's "Scream," "Scream VI" and "Abigail," will direct the film.

Fraser and Weisz were in the first "Mummy" movie, which came out in 1999. They were together again in 2001's "The Mummy Returns."

However, Fraser returned alone in 2008's "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." The franchise was rebooted in 2017 with Tom Cruise in the lead role.
