Bill Nye receives star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Bill Nye received the 2,821st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday.

Steve Nissen, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, emceed the ceremony, with Boston Celtics player Jaylen Brown and comedian Ross Shafer serving as guest speakers.

Nye, who is receiving the star in the Television category, is a science educator, engineer, comedian, television presenter, inventor, keynote speaker and New York Times bestselling author.

However, most 90's kids remember seeing Nye in their classrooms as they learned about science from his Emmy Award-winning show "Bill Nye the Science Guy."

Nye helped introduce generations of viewers to science and engineering in an entertaining and accessible way.
