2025 Emmy nominations announced, ‘Severance’ leads with 27 nominations

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The best in television get honored each year with Emmy Awards, and on Tuesday, the nominations were announced.

It was all about Emmy nominations Tuesday morning for "Severance." The Apple TV+ series earned 27 nominations, including Best Drama and lead acting nominations for Adam Scott and Britt Lower.

Disney+ series "Andor," a prequel to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," is also among the Best Drama nominees as is the Hulu series "Paradise," which landed an acting bid for Sterling L. Brown.

HBO's "The Last of Us" is also in contention, with Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal both up for acting honors.

HBO Max's medical series "The Pitt" also made the Best Drama field, with Noah Wyle earning a Best Actor.

Apple TV+'s "Slow Horses" is also in the hunt, with Gary Oldman up for Best Actor while Netflix's "The Diplomat" also earned a series nod and an acting one for Keri Russell.

Rounding out the Best Drama nominees is HBO's "The White Lotus."

On the comedy side, Apple TV+'s "The Studio" earned 23 nominations, including Best Comedy and Best Actor for Seth Rogen.

Fellow Apple TV+ series "Shrinking" is also in the chase, as well as FX's "What We Do in the Shadows."

Last year's Best Comedy winner, HBO Max's "Hacks," will try to go back to back, as will Best Actress winner Jean Smart.

FX on Hulu's "The Bear" looks to return to the Best Comedy winner's circle and add to its acting honors.

Netflix's "Nobody Wants This" made the Best Comedy cut. Series leads Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are also nominated while ABC's "Abbott Elementary" gets a fourth shot at Best Comedy, as does Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building."

Also among the nominees, Harrison Ford got his first ever Emmy nomination: Best Supporting Actor for "Shrinking" while 77-year-old Kathy Bates became the oldest ever nominee for Best Actress in a Drama for her role in CBS' "Matlock."

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will broadcast live on CBS on September 14. Comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host.
