Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tie the knot in Venice

VENICE, Italy (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - One of the most anticipated unions of 2025 is complete, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tying the knot.

The billionaire founder of Amazon and former TV anchor exchanged nuptials in Venice, with many A-list celebrities on hand.

The lavish ceremony is part of a three-day celebration, with a reported price tag of $10 million.

A prime affair of this magnitude requires a lot of local resources to pull off, but in the end, Venice Tourism Chief Simone Venturini says Bezos and company have been a boom for business.

"We have a lot of hotels, restaurants, boats, florists, hairstylists and the technicians are involved with this kind of events. And a lot of people work thanks to this event without any kind of a negative impact to the city because these events are very respectful to the city, there is no negative impact," Venturini shared.

Not everyone agrees with that assessment as about a dozen organizations, operating as the "No Space for Bezos" Movement protested the extravaganza.

They argue the Bezos bash is yet another example of wealth and tourism taking priority over residents and their needs.
