Actor and musician Ice Cube makes announcement during handprint-footprint ceremony
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KYMA, KECY/NBC) - Ice Cube, a multi-hyphenate international music, film, and sports legend, is being immortalized in at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Tuesday.
During the ceremony, according to a press release obtained by NBC News, Ice Cube is also making an announcement where he will headline the "Truth to Power: 4 Decades of Attitude" Tour, which is set for this fall.
Ice Cube rose to fame with the rap group N.W.A. before launching his solo career, "selling tens of millions of albums," according to the press release.
Following this, Ice Cube starred in films such as "Boyz in the Hood," "Friday," "Barbershop," "Are We There Yet?," "21 Jump Street," and "Ride Along."
Ice Cube says moviemaking fueled his passion as an artist: "I've always given 110% to whatever I was doing in what rappers called the movie game. It was never a game to me. It was me. There was always something that I was very appreciative to be a part of, because there's no greater canvas for artists than a movie screen."
The press release says Ice Cube is also a co-founder of the BIG3 basketball league as well as launched the Ice Cube Impact Award "in collaboration with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame."
According to Variety, Ice Cube has reached a deal with Warner Bros. to write and star in a new "Friday" movie. "Last Friday" will be the fourth entry in the comedy series, and the first in over 20 years.
