‘The Price is Right’ to celebrate 10,000th episode this week

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - 'The Price is Right' will celebrate its landmark 10,000th episode on Wednesday.

"It started in 1972. I watched it in college, and Price is Right just stood out because it was people going bananas," said host Drew Carey.

According to a press release, the episode will mark Carey's 3,296th episode since he began hosting the show in 2007.

"It's been one of the best experiences of my professional life," Carey expressed.

The press release says the show will commemorate the milestone with special games and prizes like:

• "Grand Game," where contestants will have a chance to win a $100,000 cash prize.
• "Any Number," where the piggy bank will be worth 10,000 times the normal value.
• "Lucky Seven" will become "Lucky 10," where contestants will receive ten $1 bills, thus "giving a contestant an even greater chance at winning a new car."

Not only that, the press release says the iconic daytime game show will donate $10,000 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) "for all they do to educate, support and advocate to improve the lives of the millions of Americans who are affected by mental illness."

The 10,000th episode of 'The Price is Right' this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific on CBS, channel 13, and streaming on Paramount+.
