Blazing Desert ComicCon in San Luis – Cosplay is more than just dress-up, it’s an escape from reality

Blazing Desert ComicCon

Blazing Desert ComicCon beams down to the Desert Southwest this weekend

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - To those looking from the outside, cosplay may look like nothing more than dress-up. But, if you look closer you'll see that there's more than meets the eye.

Cosplay is a commitment to a craft as old as theater itself. Cosplayers devote their entire being to their characters.

Most cosplayers design and create their own costumes. In many cases, they're method actors who portray a popular movie or anime series.

But, there are those that bring their characters from a sketch to reality. All these incredible artists can be found at events like this weekend's Blazing Desert ComicCon happening in San Luis.

The Blazing Desert ComicCon will feature workshops and panels related to the entertainment industry and art in general.

Cosplay brings artists from all walks of life, all ages, and all races. Anyone who supports art would benefit from visiting this event.

The Blazing Desert ComicCon is set for Saturday, June 4, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. At Southwest Jr. High (Cesar Chavez Blvd & 8th Avenue).
