Fast moving brush fire sweeps through Cold Springs, Nevada

NEAR COLD SPRING, NV. (NBC, KYMA) - A fast moving brush fire in the Cold Springs area prompted evacuation warnings late Saturday night as crews worked to stop its spread.

Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue and Bureau of Land Management crews responded to reports of the Ringo Fire around 10 pm. Saturday night, with officials warning the fire had significant growth potential.

A temporary evacuation site was opened at the North Valleys Library, while the American Red Cross of Nevada, Washoe County Human Services Agency, and animal services stood by to assist residents if needed.

Firefighters from Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, supported by Reno Fire Department, Storey County Fire Protection District, Carson City Fire Department, the Nevada Division of Forestry, and the U.S. Forest Service, were able to stop the fire's forward progress around midnight.

The fire burned an estimated 150 acres.

Officials say no residents were displaced, and the cause remains under investigation.
