Colorado wildfire burns more than 85,000 acres with no containment

PUEBLO COUNTY, COLO. (CBS, KYMA) - The Aspen Acres Fire which has burned more than 85,000 acres with no containment, shows no signs of letting up as a wall of smoke and flames grows Saturday morning.

Since it began on Monday, June 29, 2026, the inferno has destroyed at least 125 structures in Pueblo County and 55 structures in Custer County.

Additional resources have been deployed to the area to assist, including : Type 6 brush truck, Engine 4, Wildland 4, and a Battalion Chief.

Officials from Colorado Springs fire Department say, "As we continue supporting our neighbors to the south, we want our community to know that additional staffing has been put in place here at home to ensure Colorado Springs remains fully protected".
