Massive fire in North Las Vegas chars construction site

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - At least two people were hospitalized after a construction site in North Las Vegas, Nevada, caught fire Tuesday.

In a statement to Storyful, the North Las Vegas Police Department said a construction worker was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he jumped from the "upper story" of one of the buildings on site and a firefighter was transported to hospital for "heat-related illness" before being released.

Footage posted by Instagram user @alex_myfavoriterealtor shows the blaze overtaking the site as thick smoke fills the air.

"The heat is intense, the color is so bright, the smoke is towering, and there is ashes everywhere. I hope everyone is okay," he said in the Instagram post.

Crews had contained the fire by Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.
