House fire leaves Calexico locals without power

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A house fire in Calexico left many locals without power Tuesday morning.

The Calexico Fire Department (CFD) responded to a house fire in the area of Sixth St. and Beach Ave.

The fire department says the fire and heavy smoke was coming from the back of the home.

Calexico Fire Captain Oscar Pesqueda says four people, two adults and two children and a pet, were inside the home at the time of the fire.

They all made it out safely.

"We still have to rule out everything, so it’s a working progress," said Capt. Pesqueda

Locals in the area already have power.

The fire department wants to remind the community to make sure your smoke detectors are working.
