Trailer home catches fire on Palm Avenue, 10th Street

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A trailer home caught fire Tuesday morning, according to Rural Metro Fire Department (RMFD).

A single wide trailer was in flames when RMFD arrived on scene around 4:15 a.m. in the area of Palm Avenue and 10th Street.

Rural Metro says one person lived inside the home but there are no injuries reported at this time.

“When engine crews arrived, they found a 5th wheel type trailer 50% involved. They immediately began attacking. Once they had the fire knocked down, they found the occupants of the trailer out safely uninjured. The trailer is unlivable it sustained severe damage," said Rural Metro Battalion Chief Martin Mendez.

Rural Metro says the occupants told them they were having electrical issues and that may have been a factor.

Firefighters urge locals to make sure their smoke detectors are operating properly and that you’re replacing the batteries.
