Pope Leo to undergo surgery

VATICAN CITY (NBC, KYMA) - Pope Leo says he will undergo surgery to remove a nodule on his lung.

The American pontiff says the nodule was detected at a very early stage during recent medical tests and that the prognosis is good.

According to the Vatican, the procedure will take place in the next few days.

And pope Leo's recovery is expected to take about a week.

It did not immediately provide further details about the 71-year-old pope's health.
