Floridians turn to aid groups during power outages

PENSACOLA, Fla. (NBC, KYMA) - Tens of thousands of residents in Florida are without power after hurricane Isaias slammed the state.

Thanks to volunteer groups, the residents are not going without much needed supplies as they navigate the next few days in the dark.

At a church in Pensacola, the United Cajun Navy distributed supplies Sunday morning, as a line of hundreds of cars stretched around the block.

Some residents lined up as early as 5 a.m. Eastern for a chance to get supplies before they ran short.

Several miles away, volunteers with operation bbq relief, gathered under a tent in a Walmart parking lot to serve free meals.

Residents said this kind of help is a blessing.
