12 killed in missile attack at airport in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (NBC, KYMA) - An American is among the dead after an attack at Saudi Arabia's largest international airport on Saturday by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

Saudi authorities say the militant group targeted a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in the capital of Riyadh.

12 people were killed, including one American citizen, and more than 300 people were injured.

The Houthis have not directly claimed responsibility for the strike but they have targeted the airport several times, including once earlier this week.

It is unclear if the U.S. will intervene in the matter and assist with Saudi military operations.

The U.S. bombed the Houthis for three months last year to stop them targeting international shipping.

President Trump called this latest attack quote terrible and said he will make a decision quickly.
