Stabbing in Central Park leaves a woman dead

NEW YORK (NBC, KYMA) - According to NYPD, a woman was stabbed to death inside Central Park. A 911 call was made around 9:45 a.m. Sunday after a body was found near east drive and east 74th Street.

The 60-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene by police. Officials said the victim's body showed signs of trauma and she was apparently stabbed multiple times.

Police think the woman may have been homeless, and they have not yet released an id.

The NYPD has not announced any arrests yet and no details have been provided about a possible suspect.

A medical examiner will determine the woman's cause of death.
