Lockdown lifted for Gadsden Elementary School

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA) - A local school in Yuma went under lockdown Friday morning that has now been lifted due to reports of shots fired in the area.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) and multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Yuma Police Department, responded to Gadsden Elementary School following a report of possible shots fired.

As a result, the school was placed under lockdown at around 8 a.m.

During the investigation, YCSO confirmed the noise reported was not gunfire, and it was caused by the bird bombs in a nearby field.

School lockdown was lifted ten minutes later and activities resumed normally.
