Avenue A road work to begin Monday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Drivers in Yuma should expect road work beginning Monday, September 21, at Avenue A and 16th Street.

The City of Yuma said an Arizona Department of Transportation contractor will install two bus pull-outs on Avenue A, north and south of 16th Street. The project will also include new sidewalks and signage.

In addition, the right lanes in both directions will be closed during the work.

During the first week, lane closures will take place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be removed each evening.

After the first week, the lanes will remain closed as crews continue widening work, with reduced speed limits in the work area.

Drivers are encouraged to follow posted traffic control signs and use caution while traveling through the area.

The City of Yuma said the project is expected to be completed by mid-November.
