Gas prices jump up by 11 cents

(NBC, KYMA) - Gas prices jumped up by 11 cents over the past three weeks. The national average price of regular grade gas now sits at $4.25 per gallon.

According to the Lundberg survey, drivers can expect pump prices to rise by around 20 cents in coming days.

Wholesale gas prices also went up in the last three weeks, along with the U.S. Benchmark crude oil closing futures price.

Which soared up $12.99 per barrel to $100.05 on September 11. Adding to rising gas prices is the fact that the driving season is over.

And U.S. refiners are permitted by seasonal regulations to supply slightly lower cost formulations with higher vapor pressure.

But that cost reduction can't meaningfully stop the pump price rise that is currently all but guaranteed.
