Tracking fantastic temperatures and tropical moisture for the weekend

Tracking slightly cooler than normal temperatures and calm weather for now. However, I am tracking tropical moisture that may move in for the holiday weekend, bringing in higher rain and storm chances to the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Now that August is behind us, here's a quick temperature recap from last month. August 2026 was the hottest August on record for Yuma.

Tracking another great day with seasonable temperatures again this afternoon for the second day of September.

For the rest of our evening, I am tracking calm conditions, clear skies, and cooling temperatures. Also, dew points will be much lower, making it feel more comfortable and pleasant outside. Nice weather to spend some time outdoors.

However, for those in Imperial County it will be breezy and windy through tonight as I am tracking westerly winds and gusts between 20-30 MPH.

A lower-pressure system is in place keeping our temperatures cooler and providing more comfortable weather conditions through at least Thursday.

I a tracking tropical moisture to the south that may bring in some big changes for Labor Day weekend.

TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tracking a tropical system Marie, which is expected to turn into a Hurricane in the days ahead. Marie's path is traveling northwest. Tropical Storm Marie isn't expected to reach land, but is expected to bring some tropical moisture to the United States later this week.

There are still lots of uncertainties, but it is something I will be tracking as it could bring higher chances of storms toward the end of the week and in for the holiday weekend.

Tracking seasonable and slightly below normal temperatures all week with cooler temperatures for the weekend. May see some double-digit highs on Saturday.

For the holiday weekend, I am tracking tropical moisture that may bring in even higher storm and rain chances for the weekend and into Labor Day. The best chance favoring for shower activity is looking on Saturday.

I will keep tracking and have details as we get closer. Right now, rain amounts and timing is still uncertain. Stay tuned!
