FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking extreme heat through Monday with hotter temperatures still ahead

Tracking extreme heat for the next several days. Prepare for hot afternoons and very warm overnights. A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the dangerous heat.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Did you feel it? Multiple earthquakes shook parts of Imperial County early this morning. The strongest earthquake was a 3.6 magnitude right around Brawley.  So far, there have been a few smaller ones since this morning that reached 3.2 or below.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through 8 p.m. Monday due extreme and dangerous heat. It will also be humid, making it feel hotter.

We are in for major and even extreme heat risks and potential for heat-related illnesses.

An Extreme Heat Warning is also in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the Desert Southwest.

Highs will be between 107-118 degrees and lows in the low between 85-95 degrees. This is why an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect because of the lack of relief from the heat even at night.

It's been a hot afternoon and that heat will carry into the night. Take a look at the next 12-hours as the hot weather will continue into the morning hours.

A ridge of high pressure will be staying in place, keeping us very hot across the region. Dew points will still remain elevated, but storm and shower activity isn’t looking likely for the rest of the week.

Weather Authority First Alert Action Days are in effect for the Desert Southwest through next Monday. The added humidity will make it feel even hotter. We are in for a long stretch of extreme heat for the next several days.

Temperatures will continue to heat up and nearing the 120 mark for the weekend. Tracking slightly cooler temperatures and possible rain chances early next week.
