FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking a prolonged heat wave for the Desert Southwest

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect for the next several days due to the hot and dangerous temperatures that will be taking over through next Monday. Stay cool and hydrated!

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through 8 p.m. Monday due extreme and dangerous heat. It will also be humid, making it feel hotter.

We are in for major heat risks and potential for heat-related illnesses.

An Extreme Heat Warning is also in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the Desert Southwest.

Highs will be between 107-118 degrees and lows in the low between 85-95 degrees.

With the hotter weather overnights are going to still stay pretty toasty through the night, which will bring lack of relief from the heat.

Tracking higher moisture that will creep back into the region later this week.

This will raise our humidity again and bring a slight chance of scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms to the Desert Southwest Thursday and Friday. Chances aren't looking high, but it is something I will be tracking.

Tracking hotter temperatures as highs will climb to the one-teens this week and even through the weekend. We are in for a long stretch of extreme heat for the next several days.
