FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking gusty winds through tonight for Imperial County

Tracking gusty winds this evening for Imperial County. I am tracking breezy conditions and cooler-than-normal temperatures staying put for the rest of the work week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- It was a gusty night over in Imperial County. The highest gust recorded in El Centro was 44 MPH. Take a look.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through tonight due to the strong westerly winds bringing in gusty and dusty conditions for Imperial County.

This will lead to travel and air quality concerns. Be safe, drive with caution, and stay indoors if you can.

Winds build back come this evening, and it will continue to stay gusty in Imperial County through early Thursday morning.

An Air Quality Alert is also in effect for parts of Imperial County due to the gusty winds bringing in blowing dust. This will stay in place until 11 P.M. TONIGHT.

A Wind Advisory is still in effect for the southwest corner of Imperial County until 5 a.m. Thursday for southwest winds and gusts up to 60 MPH.

Even heading into Thursday, breezy conditions will still be expected during the evening hours. Wind gusts will be between 15-30 MPH. Stronger winds will favor in Imperial County.

Tracking a lower-pressure system hanging off toward the west, which is why we have been having gustier winds, but it also brought in cooler-than-normal temperatures.

Tracking lots of sunshine and little breezy for the rest of the workweek. Temperatures will also be cooler than normal where highs will be in the mid to upper 80s through Friday.

Temperatures will begin to heat-up into the triple-digits by Sunday, with even warmer and summer-like temperatures early next week to kick of June.
