Weather Authority/ KYMA

Tracking gusty winds this evening and again on Wednesday for Imperial County and Yuma County will be windy at times. I am tracking a big drop in temperatures by the midweek across the Desert Southwest.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through tonight and again Wednesday night due to the strong westerly winds bringing in gusty and dusty conditions mainly for Imperial County.

The more severe winds will be in Imperial County, but Yuma County will be windy at times and could see some blowing dust along with unhealthy air quality. Tracking more winds again for Wednesday evening.

This could lead to difficult driving conditions and unhealthy air quality concerns.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for parts of Imperial County until 3 a.m. Wednesday due to west winds and gusts up to 55 MPH. Gusts could peak up to 60 MPH further west and in Ocotillo.

It will be a breezy and windy evening ahead. Stronger winds will favor toward the west where the Wind Advisories are. So if you are going to be doing any traveling from the holiday weekend, make sure to drive with caution.

An Air Quality Alert is also in effect for parts of Imperial County due to the gusty winds bringing in blowing dust. This will stay in place until 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Gusty and dusty conditions will build back in Wednesday evening with more westerly winds and gusts between 30-40 MPH. You may want to have your dinner plans indoors to avoid the gusty and dusty conditions.

Tracking a lower-pressure system, which is why there are gustier winds, but it will cool down our temperatures below average.

With these strong winds continuing into the middle of the week, a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day will stay in effect through tonight and back in effect Wednesday evening in Imperial County due to the gusty and dusty conditions into the Desert Southwest.

With these stronger winds, it will cool down our temperatures below normal by the middle of the week as highs will drop into the mid 80s.

Tracking a warming trend to return late this week and going into the weekend. Enjoy the cooler temperatures. We will be starting off the month of June with warm and summer-like temperatures.
