A lower-pressure system will work its way through the Desert Southwest, keeping us breezy and windy for the next couple of days. Temperatures will also take a big dip through the midweek.

It was a gusty day yesterday, and I am still tracking breezy and windy conditions this evening. We will have west winds with gusts 25-35 MPH. Stronger winds will be in Imperial County.

This current lower-pressure system is moving through the Desert Southwest, which is the reason for the gustier winds, but it will cool our temperatures well below normal through midweek.

Take a look at our highs for Tuesday and it's also Cinco De Mayo, afternoon highs in the upper 70s. That is about 12 degrees below average for early May. Enjoy it, we have some heat that will arrive later this week.

Breezy conditions will continue through Tuesday across the Desert Southwest. I am finally tracking much calmer winds by the middle of the week.

We are in for nice weather for Cinco De Mayo and through the middle of the week.

However later this week, temperatures will rapidly heat-up as highs will be trending well above normal and in the low 100s for the weekend. It's going to be a toasty Mother's Day weekend with hotter temperatures early next week.

LOOKING AHEAD: This next warm-up will be sticking around for a while as temperatures will be trending well above-average from May 10 to May 14th.
