FIRST ALERT: Tracking shower and storm chances today with a big warming trend ahead

Weather Authority/ KYMA

Tracking a cool temperatures and rain chances to kick off the work week, but we do have a very big and unseasonable warm-up on the way.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Monday! It's a cool and slightly humid start to the workweek. There are slight chances for a few showers to pop up Monday afternoon and evening.

As of Monday afternoon, some showers and isolated storms have developed in Eastern Yuma County. Brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning are possible.

A Weather Authority FIRST ALERT is in effect for Monday just for us to stay alert and prepared if any thunderstorms pop-up in our area.

On our futuretrack rainfall map, we do have a possibility to receive measurable rain. Right now, it's looking light, but higher amounts are in thunderstorms. Take a look.

Temperatures have also been trending cooler than normal. Going into the evening, we will get chillier with light winds and slight rain chances.

As this current lower-pressure system works its way out of the Desert Southwest, that means higher moisture will be possible throug

After this system moves out by midweek, that only means a ridge of high pressure is on its way to bring us warmer and drier weather. And I am tracking a pretty big unseasonable warm-up ahead.

Ready or not, a big warm-up is on the way, and we will be warming into the upper 90s. Toward the end of the week, we will be getting near the triple-digits, and it is possible we may hit that triple-digit mark by next week.

Get ready for a toasty and sunny week ahead!

With our next warm-up on the way, out temperature outlook is showing well-above normal temperatures.
