FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking strong winds and dust on this Wednesday

It has been a pretty windy and dusty day. I am tracking lighter winds, but still staying breezy through Thursday. Temperatures will also be cooler than normal for the rest of the week.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- It's been a pretty windy and dusty day across the Desert Southwest. A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is in effect through this afternoon because of the strong winds. Blowing dust and unhealthy air quality are both some of the impacts that could lead to travel concerns.
Take a live look at our skycam from this afternoon. Make sure you are driving with caution.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for both Yuma and Imperial Counties until 4 p.m. MST for southwest/west winds with gusts up to 45 MPH.
The Wind Advisory for Ocotillo will stay in effect until 7 pm PST tonight. There's also an Air Quality Alert through 7 p.m. PST for Imperial County.

The strongest winds will be through the afternoon hours across the Desert Southwest.

It will still be breezy through the evening, but not as gusty as it was earlier today. We will still have winds coming from the southwest/west with gusts between 20-25 MPH. Breezy conditions will linger into Thursday.

With this weather pattern change, it is also bringing in chillier temperatures. Our overnight lows will dip into the low and upper 40s. Some areas could even have lows in the mid and upper 30s. Stay warm!

Another quick lower-pressure system will move in later this week, keeping our temperatures cooler than normal and trending 5-8 degrees below average.

Breezy conditions will carry into tomorrow with gusts between 20-25 MPH. Highs will be in the upper 60s, with the coolest day of the week being on Friday.
Tracking a big warming trend for next week, where highs will climb in the upper 80s and near the 90-degree mark.
