Tracking cooler temperatures and rain chances on the way

Weather Authority/ KYMA

I’m tracking a weather pattern change to bring cooler temperatures for the rest of the week, and rain chances toward the end of the week. There are greater rain opportunities again early next week as well.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - It’s almost Valentine’s Day! We are just 3 days away!

Happy Wednesday! It’s another cloudy day with cooler temperatures. After being in the 80s for the last several days, our highs were cooler this afternoon and in the mid and upper 70s. It’s been a great day so far.

I am tracking a weather pattern change where a few lower pressure systems will continue to work its way toward the Desert Southwest, which will lead to cooler temperatures through the work week and increasing rain chances.

Take a look at our weather pattern setup below.

Higher rain chances begin to move in on Thursday night and Friday morning. The weekend is looking to be clearer and drier.

However, there are more and greater chances for more scattered and widespread showers for early next week.

Our futuretrack, showers are looking to move in early Friday morning and continue before lunchtime.

Light and moderate rainfall will be possible.

Rain totals are looking light for later this week, but still a little uncertain, and next week we can see higher totals.

Daytime highs will be in the 70s for the next several days. Plus, the clouds will still linger through the week, which will prepare us for possible rain chances toward the end of the week.

I am tracking cool and nice weather for Valentine’s Day and through Rodeo weekend. Another system is expected to move in early next week to bring us more rain potential for President’s Day.

With the rain chances we do have in the forecast, we could see above-normal rainfall here in the Desert Southwest, according to our precipitation outlook for the next 6-10 days.
